about

Johnny says: As we were finishing the album, Professor Meatloaf finally passed away. I took it upon myself to do my best to finish the songs and do everything exactly how he would have wanted me to. We had 5 songs that we had decided we wouldn't include on the album for various reasons: Lonely Feeling, My Girl, Acariciando, Little Muffin and Grandma Marilyn's Meatloaf Recipe. It occured to me that I could jam them all together like we had with previous songs. It mirrored the final stretch of the Beatles' Abbey Road and it served as a sort of Requiem for the Professor's life and his entry into the afterlife. It all seemed in keeping with his vision. Years before, I had sung Gabriel Fauré's Requiem in the school choir and his piece lay heavy in my mind as I put this song together as a final celebration of Professor Meatloaf's life and his voyage into the afterlife. Fauré's words about his own requiem hold true for this one. It's "dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest...It does not express the fear of death and someone has called it a lullaby of death. But it is thus that I see death: as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above"

RIP Professor

lyrics

Lonely Feeling

Kitty Cat

See that kitty sitting on the fence
See that tail swinging in the air
You can see her claws are coming out mowww
She catches a canary and takes it down
She wrestles that little birdie into the ground
Her itty-bitty ears are twitching now mowww

Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat

My Girl

My girl has fuzzy ears, velvet paws and no fear
I love her and she loves me so
lets go and make some kitties
When I’m sick and I over-groom
she goes out and hunts my food
She’s the only girl for me
so let’s go and make some kitties

Acariciando

Just a kiss or a single touch
I’ve never wanted it so much
But you’re not at home
And I’m all alone

Acariciando
By the fire, take me higher
Watching TV, put me to sleep now

I just want you to pet me on the head
I only wanna snuggle in your bed

Little Muffin

Little muffin, strutting around
Little muffin, laying it down
Tonight the world is waiting on your promises
That you don’t keep because you don’t have to

You think you own the house
I can see it in the way that you move
When you’re hunting mice
I hope you remember me
Because a little boy can’t go to sleep

In the closet in my room
there’s a letter from a girl I knew
Torn into pieces by little paws and little claws
And ferocious cat jaws
